Care in the Community
In November 2002 the NWTM awarded BT the status of Centre for Care in the Community, under the Medical theme. This centre brings together a major commercial research and development centre with health care professionals, institutions familiar with health care applications, information processing experts, sensor technology experts, and a major UK care-providing agency. The BT centre has been established to study and demonstrate the benefits of telecare, where ambient intelligence devices are used to continuously monitor clients’ health and social well-being in the home.
