Ibérica is a worldwide leading medical technology company, with a wide range of products in surgical navigation systems that enable surgeons to perform more precise procedures by integrating the most advanced instrument tracking technologies, intra-operative imaging and surgical planning software.
Medtronic's surgical navigation systems allow surgeons to precisely track their surgical instruments in relation to patients' anatomy, even as that anatomy is shifting in real-time. The portfolio of products compounds the following:
a) the StealthStation S7 is indicated for any medical condition in which the use of stereotactic surgery may be appropriate, and where reference to a rigid anatomical structure, can be identified relative to a CT- or MR-based model, fluoroscopic images, or digitized landmarks of the anatomy;
b) StealthStation iNav product provides portability to the surgical navigation system;
c) the PoleStar Scanner System is a magnetic resonance diagnostic device intended to produce transverse, sagittal, coronal, and oblique 2D and 3D images of sections of the head selected by the physician; d) the O-arm Imaging System is designed for 2D fluoroscopic and 3D imaging for intraoperative applications in surgical theatres, particularly for orthopedic applications; e) Fusion ENT is the first EM navigation device ever to offer reproducible accuracy comparable to the optical surgical navigation systems.
Previous Experience: Medtronic also brings into the consortium its expertise and its experience in previous FP6/FP7 EU projects (MyHeart (FP6-507816), HeartCycle (FP7-216695)), iCARDEA (FP7-248240). Medtronic has coordinated the FP7 project METABO (FP7- 216270), focused on the improvement of diabetes management. Medtronic currently coordinates the FP7 project MOSAIC (FP7 - 600914).
The main responsibility of Medtronic in Helicoid is to lead the WP6 (Demonstrator and Validation) which is devoted to implement a demonstration and validation framework based on the algorithms developed during the project, and to perform the system validation tasks in different hospitals, in order to validate the full project's concepts.
Medtronic is participating in supporting the concepts of the project, assisting the consortium in the technical requirements and integration of their systems and collaborating in the preparation of a market analysis and the business plans. Medtronic is also contributing to the communication and dissemination activities of the project.

Mr. Germán Gutierrez graduated as Telecommunication Engineer in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 1992 with an MBA (Instituto de Empresa de Madrid) in 1999 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership Capabilities by the Glasgow Caledonian University in 2004. With 17 years of experience in the medical device industry, Germán was from 2006 to 2012 the Business Director of the CRDM Division in Medtronic . He is also member of the CRDM European leadership team. He is currently the head of the Hospital Solutions department for the development of operational management services within different units in hospitals.
Mr. José Verdú is MSc in Telecommunication Engineering graduated in Universidad Europea de Madrid in 2003 with an Executive MBA (ESADE Business School) in 2010 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute in 2013. With more than 10 years of experience in the project management, José was from 2003 to 2013 project manager in several national and international R+D and deployment projects in INDRA. He is currently the project manager for the MOSAIC 7FP project.
Mrs. Belén Núñez is graduated as Pharmacist in Universidad San Pablo CEU de Madrid in 2007 with an Executive Development Master in Pharmaceutical Industry (Instituto de Empresa de Madrid) in 2008 and a Post Graduate Diploma in OPTIMUS Executive (Universidad Francisco de Vitoria de Madrid) in 2009. She has worked in the R + D Departments of Boston Scientific and Medtronic. She has also worked in the sales department of Medtronic combining this work with the coordination of several marketing and e-Learning projects. She is currently participating, as project specialist, in the MOSAIC project and has also participated in other 7FP projects like HeartCycle.
