23rd - 25th November 2016: HELICoiD Final Workshop
The final workshop of the HELICoiD project was held from 23-25th November 2016, as part of the Design of Circuits and Integrated Systems Conference (DCIS 2016)  in Granada, Spain. A special session on Hyperspectral Images for Brain Cancer Detection provided a platform for discussions of how the type of advanced imaging can be applied to neurosurgical applications. This provided an opportunity for the sharing of expertise across disciplinary boundaries, involving clinicians, engineers, scientists and mathematicians. HELICoiD partners presented papers on:

8th November 2016: Final Integration of the HELICoiD Demonstrator
On 8th-9th November, HELICoiD team members from ULPGC and UPM met in Las Palmas for the final integration of the HELICoiD demonstrator. During these two days, the hyperspectral acquisition platform was combined with the real time processing platform for the first time. The processing platform accelerates critical parts of the algorithms used to analyse the hyperspectral images and provide information to clinicians.  The successful completion of this work, which was the culmination of months of effort by the international team, means that the HELICoiD system can now operate in real-time during surgical procedures.

12-14 October 2016: HELICoiD is best demo at DASIP 2016
Project team members have presented three papers at the Conference on Design & Architectures for Signal & Image Processing (DASIP) 2016 in Rennes, France. The presentations included a demo of the HELICoID System which won the best demo competition at the conference.

12th-13th October 2016: Keynote at Photonex 2016
Himar Fabelo, of ULPGC, has delivered a keynote talk during the 5th edition of the Hyperspectral Imaging and Applications conference (HSI) within Photonex 2016 in Coventry, UK.  The talk was entitled "The HELICoiD project: A comprehensive framework for real-time detection of human brain tumours using hyperspectral images" . 31st August - 2nd September 2016: Keynote at DSD 2016
Gustavo Callico, of UPLGC, delivered a keynote at the 19th Euromicro Conference on Digital System Design (DSD) in Limassol, Cyprus, on Hyperspectral Imaging for Brain Cancer Detection. A biosketch and the abstract are available here.

25th-26th February 2015: 2nd HELICoiD Review Meeting
The second project review meeting was held in Brussels on 25th and 26th February 2016, and was attended by representatives from all the project partners. The meeting included both a review of the progress made so far and planning for the final year of the project.
