THE WEBSITE FOR CAMERA CALIBRATION TOOLS HAS MOVED TO:
Camera Calibration Tools is a Windows application, which can be used to quickly calibrate cameras attached to your PC. It is largely inspired by the Matlab Camera Calibration Toolbox and replicates a lot of the functionality in a stand alone application with some additional features like support for video files and camera devices attached to your computer. Some screen shots are shown below.
The underlying calibration algorithm is based on the paper by Zhang [2,3] and the camera model used in (please go to the webpage for more specific information and other camera calibration related resources).
Currently, the software is in the early stages of development and there are numerous features, which I would like to add and lots of bugs/fixes, which need to be made! My aim is to release new versions about once per month but sometimes this is not possible. The source code is not available at the moment but I do intend to release the main calibration engine at some point when I have time to clean it up.
Requirements: To run the application you will need to have Windows XP and the latest DirectX run-time (Ver 0.1-0.4 use DirectX 9.0b, Ver. 0.5 uses 9.0c Oct '06, either way you can download the DirectX run-time from Microsoft). The toolbox may work on other versions of Windows, which have a GdiPlus service pack installed but I have not tested it!
Feedback: If you have comments or suggestions, please send me an email - firstname.lastname@example.org. Generally, I address questions and problems on a time permitting basis so unfortunately I cannot guarantee a promt response.
LICENSE This software is provided "as is" and without any implied support or guarantee. By downloading it you agree to use it at your own risk and that the author shall not be held accountable for any direct, indirect and incidental losses or damages, which you may incur.
Documentation: This is very limited at the moment but I am in the process of compiling a user guide with a few tutorials, the latest version of this can be obtained by downloading the latest version of the toolbox. Here is a short, old tutorial written with the first version:
Known Issues List - Bugs/Problems which I know of:
The TODO List - My main focus at the moment is to make the application stable (get rid of crashes and/or exit gracefully). Some additional features I am currently working on:
- Some codec packs interfere with the application's video handling capibilities. Not sure about the root of this problem yet but building a fully robust video engine is not likely to be part of this project. This does not influence the calibration capibilities.
- Sporradic crashes - Sorry about this one, the current error checking and handling is very minimal and needs fixing!!
- Stereo rectification
- Deinterlacing support
- Add different calibration engines (possibly self-calibration too)
- Lots more...
